Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional with a passion for precision and a drive to support dynamic projects?

Join a leading engineering and infrastructure consulting firm based in Washington, DC. Our client is looking to grow their finance team with two key Accounts Payable contract hires: an AP Generalist and an AP Project Lead. These long-term contract roles offer the opportunity to support critical infrastructure and design initiatives across the DC Metro region.

Role 1: Accounts Payable Specialist (Generalist)

As a core contributor to the Finance department, the AP Specialist will:

• Review, code, and process a high volume of vendor invoices across multiple engineering projects
• Track and obtain internal approvals, ensuring compliance with billing procedures
• Coordinate with project managers to monitor and resolve invoice discrepancies or delays
• Reconcile vendor statements and prepare weekly check runs
• Assist with monthly close and reporting tasks

What You’ll Need:

• 2+ years of accounts payable experience (engineering, architecture, or construction industry preferred)
• Working knowledge of accounting platforms (Deltek, QuickBooks, or Viewpoint)
• High attention to detail, responsiveness, and solid organizational skills
• Strong team communication and ability to thrive in a departmental support function

Role 2: Accounts Payable Project Lead

This expanded role is ideal for an AP professional with leadership capability, industry-specific experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally with project teams and vendors.

Responsibilities include:

• Own the accounts payable cycle for high-visibility and complex engineering projects
• Lead invoice workflows and ensure accurate cost allocations to project codes
• Partner with Project Controls, Procurement, and Accounting teams on budget alignment
• Review payment schedules and proactively manage vendor relationships
• Support AP reporting for compliance, audits, and management reporting

What We’re Looking For:

• 4+ years of progressive AP experience, with strong exposure to project-based billing
• Prior work in an engineering/professional services or construction environment
• Proficiency with accounting software and project tracking in Deltek or related systems
• Analytical, proactive mindset with a commitment to operational excellence
